STUDENTS from The Kingswinford School's badminton team have taken the borough of Dudley by storm.

They are smashing their shuttles high as they celebrate being the only school in the borough to win gold medals in both the key stage three and key stage four categories.

The Dudley Schools Badminton finals were hosted at The Kingswinford School on January 19 to see which top performing schools would go through to represent the district at the Black Country School Games on Thursday, February 11 at Walsall Campus, University of Wolverhampton.

The high-flying school team are also raising their rackets high after being the only school ever to proudly represent the district not just once but for 10 consecutive years in a row.

Mrs Bronwyn Hedley, headteacher of The Kingswinford School, said: “This is a very proud moment for not only all students and staff here at The Kingswinford School but also the borough of Dudley and the Black Country.

“We’re very proud, here at The Kingswinford School, to be able to offer our expertise to schools across the Black Country and by sharing good working practices, in terms of student extended development, outstanding results can be achieved by all.”

“The school has gone from strength to strength since achieving the prestigious status of becoming an ‘England Badminton Academy School' in 2006."
