MORE used to making the meat runs than mud runs, one Stourbridge butcher got quite dirty on her recent fundraising feat.

Kerry Higham-Moore, of Crown Butchers, was one in a group of eight friends who tackled a Royal British Legion Major Series 5k mud run in aid of three charities.

The event, where participants can also take part in a 10k course, features a number of muddy obstacles and challenges to test people of all abilities.

Kerry was joined Shelley Greenhill, Donna Hipkiss, Sue Tolly, Laura Watkins, Jay Daman, Katie Hughes and Julie Icke as they tackled the course together as a team.

The Market Street butcher said: “The event was brilliant and such fun. It was a 5k run through the mud involving obstacles such as log carries, and along the way we had to do burpees, squats and press ups.

“But it was such a laugh and all of us had such a good day that we can’t wait to sign up for the next one.”

As a team, the awesome eight have raised almost £2,000 for Cancer Research, Macmillan and the Stroke Association, with Kerry raising £701.50 thorough an online justgiving page and donations handed into the shop.

She added: “People who have come into the shop and read about what I was doing have been so gracious and I have been overwhelmed with their support and kind comments.

“People are still coming in now to give money, which is absolutely amazing.”
