MORE than 100 people packed into a Quarry Bank theatre to support singer-songwriter Chris Passey’s charitable cause.

The 29-year-old musician was able to raise more than £1,600 for the MS Society during his concert in the Hardwick Theatre, at Thorns Community College last Friday (April 8).

Chris, chief executive of Birmingham Institute of Theatre Arts, got together with a number of his musical friends to help raise money for the multiple sclerosis charity which he is supporting through a London Marathon run on April 24.

Singing For Multiple Reasons – An Evening with Chris Passey & Friends, featured a number of live performances, including a band lead by musical director Richard Skilbeck, and a set by the cast of musical Shout.

Chris said: “It was such a good evening and we were just a couple of seats from being sold out, so we had a massive turnout. Even the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho, and his with Jayne were among the audience.

“We raised about £500 in the auction, including prizes donated by the Copthorne Hotel in Merry Hill which all went really well and sold for quite a bit of money.

“All together we raised over £1,600, which has pushed me towards the £3,000 mark for MS Society.

“The support was astonishing, and I can’t thank everyone enough for making the night so special.

“I felt quite a bit of pressure as I kept asking myself ‘why would people come and see a show about me?’ but it was great to see so many people there having a good time.

“A lot of the audience asked me after the show when the next one would be, so it is definitely something I will be looking at doing again.”
