A TEAM of brewery workers stopped off in Stourbridge as part of their recent 750 mile ‘Ultimate Pub Crawl’ cycling challenge.

About 60 employees from Wolverhampton-based Marston’s are riding from their northernmost pub The Dunnichen Stone in Scotland, to its brewery furthest in the south – Ringwood in Hampshire.

The team enjoyed a well–deserved pint in the middle of their challenge as they stopped off in Stourbridge’s Glassworks pub during the West Midlands leg, before moving on to Oxford.

The idea was the dreamt up by the team as part of Marston’s ‘Give Back Week’, a nationwide initiative that joins together all the chain’s pubs, breweries, depots and offices across the UK together to raise money for both national and local charities.

Celene Normoyle, operations development manager, said: “We have had such a great response from our team and all of our supporters throughout the challenge so far.

“We have really got to appreciate the scale of the challenge, but the support and donations have made it more than worthwhile to everyone involved and it’s been a real team-building experience for us all.”

The challenge has so far raised more than £9,200 for charities, including Help for Heroes. To donate to the cause visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/givebackweek2016?
