A KIND-HEARTED Stourbridge shop assistant Sylvia Cooper's latest stunt for charity proved a cut above.

Sylvia Cooper, who works at The Co-op on The Broadway, had her golden locks shaved off in front of shoppers on Saturday June 25 to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Hair stylist Alison Johns from the Profile Studio in Hagley Road popped into the Norton store to let snip and the stunt has raised more than £2,000.

Sylvia, of Oldswinford, said: "My original target of £1,000 was smashed and I have raised £2,100 for Cancer Research UK."

She thanked all those who sponsored her or made donations and added: "I do a great deal of charity work and Cancer Research is a really worthy cause to raise money for.

"Most people either know of someone or have experienced cancer at first hand."
