THE Red Hot Chili Peppers received a rapturous welcome as they took to the stage to bring the curtain down on T in the Park.

Lead singer Anthony Kiedis danced his way on to the main stage at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, addressing the crowd: “Hey Scotland, so this is the festival?”

The Californian band – Anthony, Michael “Flea” Balzary, Chad Smith and John Frusciante – opened with hit track Can’t Stop.

FRIENDS star Matt LeBlanc is the "captain" that Top Gear needs going forward, Chris Evans has insisted as he admitted his tenure at the wheel "was not meant to be".

The Radio 2 DJ, who quit Top Gear after one series, said the motoring show and the Friends star "were made for each other" and heaped praise on LeBlanc for his dedication to the programme.

Evans described working on Top Gear as an "honour, privilege and a pleasure" and he had tried his best, but said his stint in the driving seat was "not meant to be".

YOGA, tea dances and a programme of live music and drama will help BBC Radio 3 celebrate its 70th anniversary later this year.

The channel will broadcast live from a pop-up glass studio for two weeks from September 23 to October 7 as it joins with the Southbank Centre for Sound Frontiers, a fortnight of events to mark seven decades since the launch of the Third Programme, the predecessor to BBC Radio 3.

Famous guests will include author Margaret Atwood in conversation with Naomi Alderman, performances from Nicola Benedetti and Max Richter, and Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the Philharmonia orchestra in two Stravinsky concerts.

FORMER child star Macaulay Culkin has confirmed the next album his band releases will be their last.

The Home Alone actor said the album from his band The Pizza Underground would be their “gift to the world”.

He is best known for his role as Kevin McCallister in the popular film franchise, which sees his character stranded at home alone over Christmas.
