THE verdict that cleared Led Zeppelin stars Jimmy Page and the region’s own Robert Plant in a plagiarism dispute over their hit Stairway to Heaven has been appealed against.

The veteran rockers were cleared by a jury earlier this year of plagiarising the song’s famous guitar intro.

The jury in Los Angeles found the musicians did not lift the opening chords of instrumental track Taurus, written by American band Spirit, for their 1971 hit.

A FIRST edition of one of the most famous children’s books, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, is going under the hammer.

The book, featuring 41 full-page line drawings and estimated to fetch £35,000, was printed privately by Beatrix Potter in 1901 after several children’s book publishers turned her down.

The work became a hit with friends and family and a publisher decided to release the book.

JUSTIN Bieber is set to make a splash with his performance at V Festival.

The Love Yourself singer has requested 800 gallons of purified water – at 40 degrees – for his show at the music festival in August.

At some point during his set, the star will be soaked on stage.

The festival has said Justin’s production is one of the most challenging in the 21-year history of the event.

BAD Santa is finally coming down the chimney again!

After years of chatter, Billy Bob Thornton is stepping back into Santa’s red suit for a sequel to the 2003 movie.

Film bosses have unveiled a 35-second trailer for the film and although it doesn’t give much away, it shows enough for us to guess that Santa will be swigging booze and upsetting kids just as much as last time.

The first film followed professional thief and sex addicted alcoholic Willie T Stokes (Billy Bob) and his assistant Marcus (Tony Cox), as they posed as Santa and his elf so they could rob shopping centres.
