Wollaston E Townswomen's Guild.

The July meeting was completely taken over by the annual summer party, dedicated this year to the celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday. Most members had entered into the spirit of the occasion by wearing something in the traditional red, white and blue.

With the tables also adorned with flags, serviettes and table cloths in these hues, the hall was a mass of colour.

The chairman Julie Willetts proposed the royal toast to Her majesty with a non alcoholic summer drink and the party got underway.

No speaker had been arranged for the evening, but a new system involving everyone moving three places to their left after the first course caused so much disruption and amusement. The system was supposed to encourage meeting new people and to get the party going, and it did!

The evening was rounded off with an extensive raffle and quite a few members went home with prizes.

No official business took place but everyone was reminded that there was no meeting during August and we meet again in September, after hopefully having enjoyed a lovely, sunny summer break.

The chairman closed the evening by thanking all committee members for organising such a successful evening.

The next meeting is September 13, 7.30pm at St James Church Hall, Wollaston. Non members are most welcome.
