A NEW not-for-profit organisation helping people with disabilities and their families to organise care and support has been set up in Stourbridge.

Goodlife, co-founded by social care professionals Bill Laybourne and Helen Garbett and which operates in Dudley, Kidderminster and Wolverhampton, has opened an office and art studio at Amblecote's Ruskin Glass Centre, where it is hosting family futures workshops to help disabled people and their relatives plan for their futures and make arrangements for support and development.

Bill, from Bridgnorth, is an experienced housing manager, and Helen, from Wordsley, is a qualified social worker who cares for her adult son who has learning disabilities.

She said: "As a family carer I know how important it is to have a plan in place for the future.”

Financial support for the new enterprise has come from Wolverhampton based charitable organisation - the Polack Settlement Trust which helps people with learning disabilities to live independently.
