LYE Cricket Club will be combining bails with ales when the Black Country Beer Festival rolls into town.

The festival, on August 11, 12 and 13, has gone from strength to strength and this year will be serving up 130 ales, ciders and perries in a larger marquee to cope with the extra demand.

There will also be a wide variety of continental beers and ciders will also be available and Pimm's on draught.

Black Country brewers including Enville Ales and the Green Duck Beer Company will providing a selection of beers along with the return of Thornbridge Jaipur, a popular India Pale Ale which combines flavours of citrus and honey.

A separate food marquee will be dishing of meals including pizza, faggots and peas and a hog roast.

The cricket club, on Stourbridge Road, will be hosting live matches throughout the event including a charity game on Friday August 12 to raise funds for Mary Stevens Hospice.

There will also be live music from Skafinger, Notorious Brothers and John Townley plus an open mic night from 7.30pm on Thursday August 11.

The fun starts at 6.30pm on the Thursday and doors will be open at noon on the Friday and Saturday.
