A BRIERLEY Hill children’s support organisation is preparing once again to celebrate the achievements of courageous young people at a red-carpet awards ceremony.

Tappy Twins works with some of the region’s most vulnerable young people using a combination of counselling, coaching and therapy, and will honour children who have experienced and overcome major traumas and issues in their lives.

The Courageous Kids Awards 2016 will take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Saturday November 12, with award judges including actors Nick Bailey and Parry Glasspool, Birmingham City star Kyle Mc Farlane and Raj Holness, West Midlands Woman of the Year 2015.

Suzanne Skeete, founder of Tappy Twins, said: “The Courageous Kids Awards aims to celebrate all that the children the group works with and to recognise the amazing journey these incredibly brave children have achieved.

“Many of the youngsters come from underprivileged backgrounds and struggle day to day, rarely having time for real enjoyment or celebration or recognition.

“Not only do we want to acknowledge their accomplishments but we also want to set things in motion for their futures. These children deserve to be happy, safe and loved.”

The event begins with a drinks reception, followed by dinner and the awards ceremony, hosted by television presenter and patron Monica Price, while companies and individuals are being sought to help sponsor the event, as well as provide opportunities for young people.

Mrs Skeete added: “Our sponsors, judges, organisers, children and the press will come together to share, network, celebrate, make memories and start new chapters.

“We hope the evening will be the catalyst for amazing journeys, opportunities and relationships.

“We are also hoping for sponsors and donations to assist with financing the event, for companies that might provide an experience for one of our winners, for mentors, opportunities, work placements, or even apprenticeships, or simply just join us in celebration on the night.

“With your help these children can look forward to the bright futures they deserve.”
