FREE exercise taster sessions for the older members of the Dudley borough community are being held to celebrate the Rio Olympics.

Active Seniors, a not for profit organisation, have started classes across the Black Country to give older adults the opportunity to engage in valuable exercise sessions and increase their levels of physical activity.

The move comes after new guidelines recently published by Public Health England are encouraging adults to “get active every day” to improve their physical and mental health.

Recommendations state that adults should aim to be active daily and those finding balance more difficult should do exercises to improve their balance on at least two days of the week.

The sessions, run by instructors Kim Sproston and Angela Amphlett, have recently started at Wall Heath Community Centre on Thursday mornings and at Nine Locks Community Centre on Wednesday afternoons, complementing existing classes at Sedgley Community Centre on Tuesday mornings and Hagley Community Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

But to mark the 2016 Olympics, Active Seniors are offering people across Dudley to try one of the classes for free.
