A SUSPECTED armed robber has been charged with a series of Stourbridge shop raids, including one where staff were threatened with a double-barrelled shotgun.
Michael Webb, of Kingsway, Wollaston, is set to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court today (Thursday, August 18) after being stopped and searched by officers on Tuesday (August 16) in Birmingham Street, Stourbridge, and arrested on suspicion of carrying a kitchen knife in public.
The 37-year-old was later charged with trying to rob William Hill bookmakers in Bridgnorth Road, Wollaston, at around 9pm on Friday (August 12) armed with a shotgun and stealing £600 during a robbery at the nearby Sainsbury’s Local in High Street an hour later.
Webb’s also been charged with an attempted robbery at another William Hill shop in Brettell Lane, Amblecote, on Monday (August 15), two shoplifting offences and possessing a bladed article in public.
