Model boat club enthusiasts have been left devastated after arsonists wrecked their brand new jetty.

Stourbridge Model Boat Club members had only recently celebrated the relaunch of the facility at the recently-restored Heath Pool, which has been given a complete makeover as part of a multi-million pound Lottery-funded park revamp.

The incident is believed to be the latest in a string of vandalism attacks at the picturesque Norton park which just weeks ago celebrated the end of the restoration works to give a new lease of life to the bandstand, lake, bowls pavilion and war memorial.

A young Dudley driver hit 105mph during a terrifying police chase that came to a dramatic end when his tyres were burst by a stinger device.

The pursuit began when police officers spotted David Bowers running a red light, said Justin Jarmola, prosecuting.

He told Wolverhampton Crown Court that during the chase, 21-year-old Bowers overtook other vehicles at speed and went through a set of traffic lights on green at 85mph.

The Salvation Army in Cradley Heath is holding a family fun day to celebrate two milestones.

The army first established its mission in the town 135 years ago and it is ten years since its Meredith Street base opened.

The family fun day is on Saturday, September 10, between 11am and 2pm at the Meredith Street mission.

National soft furnishing giant Dunelm will open its first store in Redditch later this year.

The homeware retailer will open in Grove Street on October 3 and will bring more than 30 new jobs to town.

The new store will also include a café for customers offering tea, coffee, cold drinks, sweet treats and lunches.

Grease was the word in Bromsgrove when the town played host to its first drive-in cinema.

Around 300 visitors turned out, dozens dressed in leather jackets or 1950s frocks, to watch the hit musical comedy Grease from the comfort of their cars in the Artrix theatre car park.

A mental health ward at Kidderminster Hospital could be axed if proposals to revamp services across Worcestershire are approved.

Harvington Ward could be closed by the end of the year, as Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust looks to change the way Mental Health Services across Worcestershire work.

The trust and local healthcare commissioners have launched a consultation into the future of some of the services which support those experiencing more serious mental health difficulties.
