PEPPA Pig, Iron Man and ‘Super’ Bob Taylor are among the wide variety of famous faces which are set to join the fun at the Mary Stevens Hospice’s Summer Fete this weekend.

Guests will be treated to a number of top Black Country musical acts, acrobatics, fitness and strength and karate displays, as well as a dog show and a visit from PAW Patrol’s Chase at the annual event on Saturday (September 3).

‘Super’ Bob, the legendary West Bromwich Albion striker, will kick off proceedings at 11am, when the hospice will split the entertainment between two main performance areas, the ‘main stage’ and the ‘performance arena’.

The main stage will see musicians including Got2Sing, Flying Ant Day, Spoz, Jess Silk and Mick Brigdale perform until 4pm, when the iconic Black Country band, The Empty Can, will bring the show to a close with their headline set.

Over on the performance stage, display teams from the Danse Vivante dance school, Kaisho Karate Club and Fitness Factory gym will be performing, before the annual dog show welcomes dogs of all breeds and sizes to compete for a range of rosettes.

There will also be a junior bake-off competition, a special visit from the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Mohammed Hanif, a classic car show, a bouncy castle, various games, refreshment and retail stores, fairground rides and a live Pokemon hunt, inspired by the Pokemon Go! craze which has swept the nation in recent months.

Amanda Bowen, the hospice’s community engagement officer, said: “Last year, we had more than 1,000 people join us for our summer fete, and it was a brilliant day which raised well over £10,000 for the patients here at the hospice.

“This year, however, we want it to be even bigger. We're extremely excited that we've been able to book so many incredible acts and that they've all so generously agreed to donate their time and their talents to make this day as brilliant as it possibly can be.

“We know that a lot of the boys and girls we've spoken to are very excited to come and meet our good friends Peppa Pig, Iron Man and Chase, in particular, and it really is shaping up to be a wonderful way to finish the six weeks holiday!”

Entrance to the fete, which is taking place at the charity’s Hagley Road headquarters, costs £2 for adults and £1 for under-16's.
