A DUDLEY doctor and hospice medical director said it was a “real honour” to be named the borough’s GP of the year.

Dr Lucy Martin was given the title at Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) annual awards ceremony for medical professionals.

As well as being a GP at Eve Hill Medical Practice, she also acts as medical director at Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Hospice, which provides palliative care services to patients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses.

It was double delight for Dr Martin after her Himley Road surgery won the ‘practice of the year’ award earlier in the evening.

Dr Martin said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award this year, and also that our practice has won practice of the year.

“It’s lovely to be recognised for the work we do. Of course all the work I am involved with helping patients who are at the end of life could not be done without the dedicated teams at the practice, the CCG, Mary Stevens Hospice and the Dudley Group of Hospitals who work together with me to make things happen.

“My wonderfully supportive husband, family and friends are part of that too. It’s a real honour and I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this special recognition.”
