FIVE men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Yorkshire man who was found with head injuries in Halesowen.

Detectives investigating the murder of Karl Swift arrested four men, aged 58, 51, 29, and another 29-year-old man, all from Sheffield, plus a 23-year-old man from Rotherham, on suspicion of murder.

The arrests were made in Yorkshire this morning (Monday October 17) and follow the death of 33-year-old Karl Swift, who died a day after he was found with head injuries on New Road, Halesowen, on Friday September 9.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Paul Joyce from West Midlands Police’s Homicide Team, said: "The arrests this morning are a significant development in the investigation, but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on Thursday September 8 into the early hours of Friday morning.

"We still believe there may have been an incident at the William Shenstone Wetherspoons pub in Halesowen prior to Mr Swift leaving.

"I would urge anyone who was in the pub between 4pm and 10pm on Thursday September 8 who has not yet spoken to us to call my team."
