HALESOWEN Town boss John Hill says he was delighted to be able to give the fans something to cheer at the Grove this week.

The Yeltz had failed to win in their previous three home games before bagging much-needed back-to-back victories.

Kaiman Anderson’s overhead effort handed Hales a fine 1-0 win last Saturday before debutant Matt Burley netted to secure a success by the same scoreline over Tamworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Hill had called for his players to improve their home record following the defeat against Matlock and they duly obliged with a quick-fire double.

He said: “It is great to have a good away record but it’s really nice to perform in front of our own fans.

“We did well in both games and I’m really pleased with the wins. It was nice to progress in the cup and even more important we picked up a home win.”

The manager admits their is still room for improvement and also says he’s working hard to make sure the balance is right between the club’s players and the amount of loanees.

“We are doing well at the moment, the squad is in good shape and we’re heading in the right direction, but we have to be mindful that a lot of the games we are involved with are very close affairs,” said Hill.

“The scorelines tell you that often the games could go either way, so we can still improve.

“We also can’t hide away from the fact that we are using the loan system to our advantage. At some point those players will have to go back and we have to make sure we can cope when they do.

“We are always looking for new players so that we don’t become over reliant on the loan players or have too much to do further down the line. There are always things we want to improve.”

As well as the signing of midfielder Burley last week, the Yeltz have also extended the loan deals of Harriers pair Kennedy Digie and Richard Sho Silva.

The duo will now be at the Grove until November 15 where they will continue to play with a third Kidderminster man, left-back James Hancocks.

Hales will go to Rushall Olympic this Saturday in the FA Trophy. They will be without Digie, who is not allowed to play by his parent club, and the suspended Asa Charlton.
