CANDICE Brown has been named winner of the last series of The Great British Bake Off to air on the BBC.

The PE teacher, 31, took the title ahead of rivals Jane Beedle and Andrew Smyth and said it was the biggest moment of her life so far.

The final marked the last time Mary Berry will serve as a judge and Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins as hosts before judge Paul Hollywood moves with the show to Channel 4.

Everything Sherlock fans know will be “tested” as the detective thriller series returns to screens at the beginning of next year.

A first trailer for show’s fourth season, broadcast moments after the Great British Bake Off final on BBC1 on Wednesday, revealed that it will begin on January 1 2017.

The teaser, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the contemporary adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, gave glimpses of upcoming scenes with the mysterious lines: “Everything they know will be tested…Everyone they know is under threat.”

Rapper Coolio has avoided jail after he admitted carrying a concealed gun at Los Angeles International Airport.

The US musician was arrested after the handgun was discovered in his bag during security screening on September 17.

Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed firearm as a felon when he appeared at Los Angeles’ Airport Courthouse on Wednesday.

Chris Evans’ BBC Radio Two breakfast show lost more than 400,000 listeners in the three months after he quit Top Gear, new figures show.

Nick Grimshaw’s morning offering on Radio One has also lost listeners but the once-doomed digital station Radio 6 Music has continued to grow its audience for a fifth consecutive quarter.
