A 24-year-old STOURBRIDGE man has denied causing the death of a teenaged mum by driving dangerously.

Joseph Chance, of Murcroft Road, also pleaded not guilty to charges of causing the death of 18-year-old Nadine Foster while driving uninsured and without a licence.

But he did plead guilty to driving dangerously in a Renault Clio in Hagley Road, Oldswinford, on April 16 2016 - and he also admitted driving without insurance and a licence at the time of the crash which killed Miss Foster who was a former student at Stourbridge's Pedmore Technology College and Dudley College.

The teenager had been a passenger in another vehicle that ploughed into a wall and she died from the injuries she sustained a few days later.

Paul Spratt, prosecuting, said there had been suggestion there would be an application to dismiss the charges against Chance.

But he told Wolverhampton Crown Court that application was no longer going to be pursued by the defence.

He said the prosecution wanted to proceed to trial with the charge against him of causing the death of Miss Foster by dangerous driving - and a date has now been fixed for October 2.

Judge Simon Ward remanded Chance on conditional bail and assured members of Miss Foster's family in the court room that they would try to get an earlier date for the trial.

He said once the prosecution and defence had considered all the evidence there was a "possibility" an earlier date might be found but he stressed: "There is a lot of work to be done in the meantime."

Dylan Stringer, aged 23, of Wychbury Road, Pedmore, admitted at an earlier hearing to causing the death of Ms Foster by driving dangerously and while uninsured and without a licence.

He was remanded on bail but will not be sentenced until the case involving Chance is finalised.
