CAMPHILL Village Trust’s latest Stourbridge project has been opened by the Mayor of Dudley.
The trust, which provides homes within a supportive community environment for people of all abilities, saw its newest home at 4 Norton Road opened by Councillor Mohammed Hanif this week.
Camphill has operated in Stourbridge for more than 40 years, and currently offers 60 people a variety of support including residential care, domiciliary care and supported living through activities such as a horticultural project, pottery and a local coffee shop and café.
The new development is part of the trust’s ‘Berith and Camphill Partnership’ which consists of Berith House, a completely refurbished home to provide four self-contained apartments, The Pavillion, a new build with six wheelchair accessible apartments, and Berith Hall.
Berith Hall is a communal hub which can be adapted for a range of activities, including theatre performances, and can seat up to 60 people, as well as providing a hub for local Camphill community groups.
Ian Laing, CVT’s general manager, said: “This is a local project for local people. It adds to our portfolio of properties in Dudley and provides opportunities for local people.
“The combination of accommodation and communal hall enables us to further integrate and provide a service to the community.”
The trust said the new development, designed by Manchester architects Pozzoni and built by contractors Speller Metcalfe, has been developed to “complement” the existing facilities on the site including a communal kitchen and computer suite.
