A 23-year-old homeless man has been charged with the double murder of Stourbridge mum and son, Tracey and Pierce Wilkinson.

Aaron Barley, of no fixed abode, has also been charged with the attempted murder of husband and dad Peter Wilkinson following yesterday's stabbing and he is due to appear before Birmingham magistrates tomorrow (Saturday April 1).

All three were knifed at their Greyhound Lane home in an horrific early morning attack.

Mr Wilkinson, aged 47, (pictured below), was said to be 'stable' in hospital today, after he was found in the garden at the property with stab wounds to his chest and back.

West Midlands Police say there was nothing that could be done to save Mrs Wilkinson, aged 50, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 13-year-old son Pierce (pictured below) - a student at Redhill School in Stourbridge, suffered critical stab injuries and was later pronounced dead at hospital.

A post mortem examination and formal identification is expected to take place on Monday (April 3).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance staff arrived on scene to find three seriously injured patients; a woman, a man and a boy.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff it became apparent at the scene that nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed deceased.

“The teenage boy was found to be in cardiac arrest and received specialist trauma care and advanced life support from our staff. He was taken on blue lights to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with treatment continuing en-route.

“Sadly, shortly after arrival in A&E and despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and hospital medics, he could not be saved and he was also confirmed dead.

“The man, who was conscious, was also in a serious condition as a result of his stab wounds and was alerted in to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham by land ambulance.”

The family's Land Rover was stolen from outside the home but was intercepted by police shortly afterwards at around 8.30am in Norton Road where it crashed into a wall.

Police have since confirmed that two police officers received minor injuries after their vehicle was rammed before the Land Rover crashed. They were treated at hospital and later discharged.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and questioned by police on suspicion of murder and wounding.

He has since been named as Aaron Barley, of no fixed abode, and was charged with murder and attempted murder on Friday afternoon.

Dudley Police Superintendent Lee Kendrick, said: “What has unfolded here is horrific and heart-breaking.

"Police and ambulance staff were confronted with an awful scene: a man, woman and boy all with very serious stab injuries.

“The woman and boy were found in the house and the man in the garden.

“Tragically there was nothing that could be done to save the woman – and her son later died in hospital from his injuries.

"Our hearts go out to the victims’ family and friends at this devastating news.

“Clearly our investigation is at a very early stage but we understand the suspect was known to the family and may have been living at the address – although he is not a family relative.

"We don’t think this was a burglary or a robbery.

“Our investigation is progressing at pace and we are working to understand exactly what the relationship was between the man and the family.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”

"This is just an awful thing to happen."

Another, who witnessed the emergency services flood the scene, added: "I’m shocked. It’s a quiet residential area; it’s not something that you’d expect.”
