A MUSICIAN of the year nominee who has been touted as one of the finest banjo players in the UK is set to perform in Stourbridge this evening (Thursday, April 27).

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Dan Walsh is playing a set at Katie Fitzgeralds in Wollaston from 8pm as part of his UK tour.

In support of his latest release ‘Verging On The Perpendicular’, which is out on Saturday (April 28), Dan is touring the country, with the new album revisiting his first musical love, that of traditional Irish and Scottish folk music.

Having made his name with the duo Walsh and Pound, and now a member of the award winning Urban Folk Quartet, Dan has toured the UK many times, and has also had successful tours in USA, Canada, Germany, India, Norway and New Zealand.

After being nominated for Musician Of The Year at last year's BBC Folk Awards, Dan was described as 'absolutely terrific' by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2.

Tickets to tonight’s gig cost £10 in advance, and can be bought by calling 01384 374410 or visiting www.wegottickets.com/event/378575
