HUNDREDS of people turned out in Dudley this morning (Wednesday) to pay their respects to the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.

Up to 1,000 members of the public descended on Coronation Gardens, opposite Dudley Council House, where a service was taken by Pastor Barry Hutchinson and a one-minute silence was held in tribute to those killed and injured in Monday’s atrocity at the Manchester Arena.

The civic gathering, held at 10am, was arranged and attended by the new Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, who said: “It made me feel very proud that so many folks had turned out at short notice to have a few minutes of thought for other people.

“It said a lot about the community in Dudley. It was a very respectful and dignified five to 10 minutes. I’d like to thank people for coming along and observing the one-minute silence.”
