PEAKY Blinders star Cillian Murphy is no fan of the trademark haircut his character sports in the hit series.

The actor, who has starred as Tommy Shelby since 2013, thinks it is “crazy” that people like the style.

He told Shortlist Magazine: “But people like the undercut thing; people go to the barber and ask for a ‘peaky cut’.

“It’s crazy that people like it, it’s not grown on me in four years now. I normally keep my hair long.”

He added the style was initially introduced to stop the spread of hair lice.

“But they do realise the people in turtlenecks in Hackney with this haircut, do they realise it was styled this way to prevent lice? Tell em they have got the lice cut, see what they say then,” he said.

Murphy’s latest role is in Christopher Nolan’s war thriller Dunkirk.

Despite the film expected to be a roaring success, the 41-year-old admits he will only watch it once.

“I’ll see it once”, he said, adding: “I don’t know anyone who pores over their work because the impulse is always the next – the next piece I do will be the best piece I do. To an actor, nostalgia is death."

BBC chief Tony Hall has warned that comparing pay “is not straightforward” as the broadcaster prepares to publish the salaries of stars earning over £150,000 – of which two thirds are men.

The corporation is revealing for the first time its talent list of 96 of the biggest high-earners.

Only one third of the list of talent earning over £150,000 are women.

The pay packets of Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker, chat show host Graham Norton and newsreader and Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce are expected to be disclosed.

Leading journalists such as Andrew Marr, John Humphrys and political editor Laura Kuenssberg are also expected to be on the list.

BOYZONE have teamed up with Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith for help putting together their 25th anniversary album.

The boy band’s record will be out before early next year and may feature tracks written by the two singer-songwriters, according to Shane Lynch.

He told The Sun: “We have gathered a number of tracks. We’re not finished yet, we are still harvesting. We have a track from Ed and one from Sam.”
