THREE Stourbridge stage performers are set to reprise their roles in The Pirates of Penzance – 27 years after they last trod the boards together with the Stourbridge Gilbert and Sullivan Club.

Derek Liddington, Roger Hanke and Graham Smith, who all performed together in the club’s production of Pirates in 1990 at Brierley Hill Civic Hall, are looking forward to sharing the stage together again in Stourbridge Choir and Orchestra’s forthcoming concert production of the classic show.

What’s more – the three have been cast in the same roles they played nearly 30 years ago, just a few years before the Stourbridge Gilbert and Sullivan Club disbanded in 1994.

Roger Hanke will be reprising his role as Major General, while Graham Smith will once again play Pirate King and Derek Liddington will star as Frederic.

They will also be joined by Roger’s wife Sue Hanke as Edith, Barbara Hanke as Mabel, Victor Ellams as the Sergeant and SCO’s own Amanda Field as Kate, Jo Bond as Ruth and Rob Green as Samuel.

SCO’s musical director Martin Sleaford said: “Both the choir and the orchestra have thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing for this concert and to have three soloists who performed the same roles together 27 years ago gives our cast a sense of reunion and celebration along with great energy in their renditions of the well-known solos and choruses”.

The show will be staged on Saturday October 14 at 6.30pm at Haybridge High School, Brake Lane, Hagley.
