FOR a lazy cow, Doreen's been busy again.

The self-proclaimed Queen of Black Country comedy has been on a Grand Tour of the region which can be seen in new DVD - 'Doreen's Black Country'.

The comedy character, who started out life as an internet creation - thought up by playwright/film-maker David Tristram, can be seen visiting Brierley Hill, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Tipton.

Her journey takes her to some of the gems of the Black Country including Dudley Zoo and Castle and Dudley Canal Trust where the Black Country legend turns canal boat legger which would be hard work for anyone but especially Doreen, who suffers from Lazy Cow Syndrome.

She even musters up the energy to pack a punch at Priory Park Boxing Club in Dudley.

During her tour, which also includes stop-offs at Brierley Hill Market, Wolverhampton Racecourse, Mad O'Rourke's Pie Factory in Tipton and St Martin's CofE Primary School in Tipton, she interviews a host of Black Country characters (including Wolves footballing legend Steve Bull) and delves into the region's rich history and heritage in her own inimitable style - which, as expected, doesn't fail to raise a chuckle.

After devising a series of stage shows, an autobiography, radio shows, a Doreen TV channel and even a feature-length movie centred on the character - there's no let up in the comedy genius of writer/director David Tristram and actress Gill Jordan, who brings Doreen wonderfully to life.

The new two-hour DVD offering, which provides an amusing, original and informative look at the area and its people, really merits some kind of public screening but failing that it would make an ideal gift for proud Black Country folk or family and friends overseas who are nostalgic for their hometowns.

Meanwhile - Doreen's embarked on her hotly-anticipated 'Doreen: Rise of the Yam-Yam' autumn tour, which is stopping off at theatres across the region including Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this Sunday.

The show and many others have already sold out but seats remain available at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on November 15 and 16 and Worcester's Swan Theatre on November 17.
