THE prestigious Dudley International Piano Competition concludes in Birmingham's Symphony Hall this weekend.
Known for having a habit of discovering the keyboard stars of tomorrow, the event - held in association with Yamaha - has been going for 50 years and is one of the UK's leading piano competitions.
Past winners have included Benjamin Frith, Andrew Wilde, Graham Scott, Alicja Fiderkiewicz and Paul Lewis, while internationally acclaimed pianists Ian Hobson, Peter Donohoe, Joanna MacGregor and Timothy Horton have been among the previous competitors.
The concerto final, taking place from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday November 4, will see Ariel Lanyi performing Mozart Piano Concerto No. 24, Julian Trevelyan performing Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 and Scott MacIsaac performing Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 - accompanied by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Seal.
The winning pianist will walk away with the top prize of £4,000.
