A KINVER school pupil hit the big time after his classroom project struck a chord with rock star Noel Gallagher.

Sam Fisher, aged 13, wrote to the musician asking him to visit Kinver High School to talk about “life, fame and fortune” as well as his experiences with drugs.

The former Oasis guitarist and songwriter posted Sam’s letter on social media with a reply which said: “Thanks for the offer Sam but as much as I’d love to come and regale your PSHE class with war stories from The 90’s I’m gonna have to pass as I’m currently in re-hab..I mean the studio!!!”

Sam, who lives in Caunsall near Kidderminster, followed up with another note to Noel asking to meet him backstage at his next gig in Birmingham in May.

Noel again posted the letter online saying he would organise passes to the show.

Sam, who is a keen guitarist, also offered to join Noel to play a song and the rocker responded by saying: “Play on stage with me? Blimey you don’t want much do you eh?”

The letters on Noel’s newsfeed have been viewed by thousands of fans and made Sam an internet sensation whose story made the national press.

Sam said: “Its been an exciting week for me I am amazed that Noel took the time to reply to my letters and respond to me on Instagram.

“I’m thrilled to have been given the chance to meet him backstage, it’s a once in a lifetime chance and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity"

Sam’s mum, Liz Fisher, added: “He chose to write to Noel after his form teacher, Mrs Harker, set some PSHE homework and told the class that they could write to someone they admired. As Sam has been a massive fan of Noel for a long time he asked if this was Ok?

“We never expected Instagram to blow up Noel’s news feed with the comments that followed the post “It’s been a busy but fun week! We never expected this to happen. John (Sam’s dad) has been reading through all the Instagram comments, some of which have been very witty.

“However, they have all been incredibly positive towards Sam."
