WELL it has been an interesting couple of days but it looks as if life across the region is starting to return to normal following the disruption caused by Sunday's heavy snowfall.

The majority of schools have been able to open their doors and train services, which were heavily disrupted on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, have largely returned to normal.

Main roads have been largely cleared but smaller routes are still iced up, causing police and highway authorities to renew warnings for drivers to take care.

Tonight, it will be staying windy, with a squally area of rain, sleet and some snow, mostly over hills though.

Scattered heavy showers following overnight. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
