PUPILS at a Wollaston Primary School experienced their own Christmas miracle when they received some last-minute, much-needed props for their nativity.
Children in years one and two at The Ridge Primary School were all set for their end of year show entitled 'Prickly Hay' but snowy conditions meant the hay that was a fundamental part of the nativity could not be delivered.
Tinsel and shredded paper were set to be used as a substitute but luckily for children and staff Old Halesonians rugby club came to the rescue.
Matthew Williams, head of rugby at the club, saved the day and with the support of a club sponsor delivered the hay just in time for the children's performance for their parents and families.
Assistant headteacher and year two teacher, Rebecca Beddoes, said: "As the title suggests, 'Prickly Hay' has a hay theme so without it the nativity simply doesn’t work. We are extremely grateful to Matthew and the team at Old Halesonians for their fantastic community spirit and for saving our Christmas nativity."
The show, which ran at the Gregory Road school on Wednesday December 13, featured a hardworking stable boy called Sam and his faithful friend Shrew sorting through the hay to make the stable just right for their special visitors.
