TOP UK performance poet Attila The Stockbroker is kick-starting the new year with a return to Stourbridge this weekend.

Fans can expect a lively mix of Clash-inspired songs, hard-hitting topical poetry, razor sharp wit and radical politics when the artist performs at Katie Fitzgerald’s in Enville Street on Friday January 12.

Since first stepping on stage in 1980, Attila has has played more than 3,300 gigs in 24 different countries, published eight books and released more than 30 albums.

A keen supporter of Brighton & Hove Albion, his gigs are often plotted around their fixture list - with this one taking place ahead of their Premier League match against West Brom at The Hawthorns.

The Humdrum Express – whose zombie-themed video for latest single E-Petition was filmed in Stourbridge last October – will be supporting on the night.

While singer-songwriter Jess Silk will be opening the evening - and previewing songs from her soon-to-be released debut album.

Admission is £8 on the door and the gig starts at 8pm.
