PEOPLE looking to save money on their gas and electricity bills have been urged to sign up to Dudley Council’s Big Switch.

The scheme has been running since 2013 and allows borough residents to collectively change energy suppliers.

Those who have previously registered for the scheme - which is based on a bulk buying concept - have saved up to £300 per year.

People have until February 12 to register and they will then have the option of switching energy supplier to the company offering the best deal.

Councillor Laura Taylor, Dudley's cabinet member for housing, said: “As we enter a new year, now’s the time to look at money saving initiatives which offer real value for money.

"Dudley’s Big Switch is a trusted and hassle free way to save on home energy bills.

"It’s simple to get registered, clear instructions are provided and the switching is all handled for you.

"The deals offered through the scheme are market leading and there is nothing to lose.

"We want our residents to ensure that they keep affordably warm at home.”

The Big Switch is open to all householders, including people living in rented accommodation, those with a prepayment meter and people with a fuel debt of up to £500 or less.

To register, visit www.dudley.gov.uk/bigswitch or call Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.

Current tariff details and fuel usage (shown on a recent bill) will be needed to complete the registration process.
