HEAVYWEIGHT political journalist Anthony Bevins died just two days after his wife.
The Cookham residents both died at Wexham Park Hospital.
Mr Bevins' wife, Mishtuni, died last Wednesday and he died last Friday from a virulent form of pneumonia.
Mr Bevins was unconscious for most of last week and remained unaware that his wife, who had flown in from America to sit by his hospital bed, had also been taken ill.
The 58-year-old hack worked on almost every national paper through his distinguished career.
He spent 30 years as a Westminster lobby correspondent and was freelancing at the time of his death.
Over the years he was a political journalist on the Daily Mail, the Times, The Independent which he joined at its inception the Observer and recently the Express where he was political editor.
Parties at his home were legendary thanks to Mr Bevins' tremendous sense of humour and a flair for entertaining in the grand style.
He is survived by a son and daughter.
