A PLUMBER took his own life the day before his 27th birthday, a coroner concluded.

Ben Epton was pronounced dead by paramedics after being found hanged at his house in Penzer Street, Kingswinford, on the afternoon of December 8, 2017.

Mr Epton’s father discovered his son’s body after he forced entry to the address because he did not get a response.

During an inquest at Black Country Coroners Court, it was heard Mr Epton was known to mental health services due to his history of drug use, suicide attempts and gambling addiction.

The court was told his moods had been “up and down” but he had no plans of taking his own life, although he was “struggling to live without the buzz of gambling” and now found life “boring”.

Assistant Black Country coroner Emma Whitting concluded Mr Epton’s death was as a result of suicide.
