FOSTER carers are spreading the word about 'the best job in the world' in Stourbridge and Sedgley this week.

Drop-in sessions are being held at several venues as part of National Foster Care Fortnight.

Dudley Council’s foster carers are attending the sessions for new carers and sharing their inspiring stories on the service’s website www.fosteringindudley.org.uk

The videos give people interested in fostering a first-hand account of what it’s really like to foster by bringing the fostering journey to life.

The website also hosts lots of useful information and provides an easy and fast way to get in touch with Dudley’s fostering service.

The team will be at Costa Coffee tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Ryemarket in Stourbridge from 10am to 3pm and on Thursday 24 May at Ladies Walk Centre in Sedgley from 12 to 5pm.

The sessions finish at St Thomas’s Church in Stourbridge on Saturday 26 May from 1 to 3pm.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said: “Foster Care Fortnight gives us the opportunity to really highlight the important and rewarding role of a foster carer.

“Our carers are really inspiring and are proud to foster for Dudley, the real carer videos on our website demonstrates this.

“We’re proud of our foster carers and are always happy to hear from anyone who feels they can offer a safe, caring and stable home to children looked after by Dudley borough.”

The service is keen to hear from anyone interested in fostering but in particular from those who would like to care for teenagers, children with disabilities or those who could take more than one child so brothers and sisters can stay together.

They would also like to hear from people interested in long term fostering.
