THE recently-formed Stourbridge Friends of the Earth group attracted a healthy attendance to a meeting about the problem of plastics pollution.

Around 40 people attended the meeting at the Friends Meeting House in Stourbridge.

Following an introduction by Chris Crean, an organiser with Birmingham Friends of the Earth, a documentary film was shown featuring a team of international scientists who revealed the huge problem of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.

Christine Davies, of FoE Stourbridge, said one of the group’s tasks was to increase public awareness of the issue of overusing plastic, recycling it and what an individual can do to limit the amount they use.

Mark Richards, a co-founder of the group, added: “We also want to involve ourselves with other groups in the area, in tackling local environmental issues.”
