A PENSIONER has died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the scene of a crash in Stourbridge this morning (Friday, June 1).

Emergency services were responding to reports of a collision on High Street, Amblecote at 11am, with West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatching two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a man in cardiac arrest. Bystanders had already commenced CPR.

“Ambulance staff took over and also administered advanced life support which continued en-route to Russells Hall Hospital.

“Unfortunately, shortly after arrival at the hospital it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.”

West Midlands Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service and a police spokesman confirmed initial inquiries suggest the 78-year-old’s death was a result of a medical incident.

Police reopened High Street at about 12.30pm after it was closed in the aftermath of the incident.
