STALWART Stourbridge stars Leon Broadhurst and Luke Benbow have become the latest players to commit themselves to the Glassboys for the upcoming campaign.

Boss Gary Hackett has also boosted his youthful looking squad with the announcement that Jordaan Brown has agreed to join the club from Stafford Rangers.

The strong 26-year old left-sided player, who is equally at home at centre-back or as a marauding full-back, started his career at AFC Wimbledon and also gained some senior experience with Chipstead before signing for then Conference South club Staines Town in the summer of 2012.

He has since played for Finish side VPS – where he got to play in the Europa League – Flekkeroy in Norway, Hayes & Yeading and Redditch United before moving to Stafford Rangers last season.

He enjoyed a fine 2017/18 campaign with the Northern Premier League side, which saw him pick up three honours at the end of the season, winning manager’s, players’ and supporters’ player of the year awards.

Broadhurst, the club’s record appearance holder, first joined Stourbridge in the summer of 2003 and has since chalked up 731 appearances and scored 145 goals over the course of his three spells at Amblecote.

The 34-year-old swept the board for the player awards at the end of season presentation evening at the end of April as he rolled back the years to end up as the leading goal scorer with 19 goals from 57 appearances.

With a proven and consistent record at step three of the non-league pyramid, 26-year-old Benbow has also agreed terms with the club after hitting 17 goals in 35 appearances last season after re-joining the club on loan from Solihull Moors in November.

The forward ended the season on a high note, scoring the winning goal against Warrington Town in the final league game before netting a brace of goals in the Birmingham Senior Cup Final victory against Hednesford, including the last gasp winner.

After first joining the Glassboys in 2012, Benbow has scored 112 goals in 216 appearances over the course of his three stints to date, claiming the Golden Boot award for the Evo-stik NPL Premier Division in 2016/17 when he notched 39 goals in all competitions.

The club has confirmed that talks remain ongoing with other players from last season, along with new targets.

Pre-season training for the Glassboys gets underway on Tuesday, July 3, with the first friendly match away at AFC Wulfrunians on Saturday, July 14 (3pm kick off).
