A PAIR of thugs from Stourbridge and Dudley were arrested after their victim bravely went on their trail.

Darren Hanson suffered "numerous" blows before Samuel Blezzard and Jordan Ledgister left the scene of the savage attack in Wolverhampton Street, Dudley.

Mr Hanson, who was brutally punched and kicked while making his way home followed the men and they were quickly picked up by police.

Blezzard had picked up a bag containing a camera that had been dropped by Mr Hanson who decided to keep them both in his sights after dialling 999.

Lal Amarasinghe, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court:"He followed them and gave officers a running commentary of their movements. He then flagged down the officers when they arrived on the scene."

Mr Hanson was then able to point out the two men who had beaten him up, the court was told.

Blezzard, aged 34, of Selbrook Road, Lye, admitted robbery and was locked up for two years eight months while 21-year-old Ledgister of Brewery Street, Dudley, admitted assault and he was jailed for a year.

Mr Amarasinghe told the court that Mr Hanson was making his way home after midnight when he was approached by the two men who had both been drinking heavily.

He was then pushed against a shop front and, fearing he was about to be mugged, he kicked Ledgister in the groin before being punched and kicked about the head and body by the two men.

After his arrest Blezzard was so intoxicated the told police he could remember nothing at all of the incident while Ledgister also stressed he had been drinking before they launched the unprovoked attack.
