Yeltz set sight on cup run

Halesowen Town will go into their FA Cup tie at home to Malvern Town on Saturday with aspirations of making waves in the world's most famous cup competition.

Yeltz boss Martin O'Connor is eager for his players to give a good showing and as set his sights on a good cup run.

The club go into the first qualifying round clash four wins away from the first round proper and dream ties against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

O'Connor said: "This is going to be a massive game for the club.

"Malvern are going to be a strong side but I'm confident we will be strong enough to come out on top and we will certainly be fully prepared."

"A good cup run is always good for a club and we are no diffrent.

"We will be aiming to go as far as we can and get in the draw with the league and conference sides."

The Yeltz will go into the game full of confidence after defeating Yate Town 1-0 at home in the league last Saturday thanks to a Lee Williams strike followed by an impressive performance against a strong Birmingham City side on Tuesday A Blues side including Franck Quedrue, Neil Danns and Rowan Vine ran out 2-0 at the Grove in The Birmingham Senior Cup but not without a few scares along the way.

The matches saw Chris Jay takeover between the sticks from the under fire James Dormand with some aplomb but O'Connor confirmed he was still looking for re-inforcements in the goal-keeping department.

He said: "I'm still looking to bring another keeper in and I've got a few irons in the fire.

"With James (Dormand) wanting to go out on loan to redicover his form and confidence it is a necessity."

The manager is hoping he will have the injured trio of Duane Darby, Paul Devlin and Shane Paul all in contention for Saturday's cup clash.

Former Worcester City star Liam McDonald is a major doubt for the clash after injurying his ankle in the Blues game.

Meanwhile, Causeway faired no better in the Midland Alliance after going down 2-1 to Tipton Town at the War Memorial on Tuesday.

United will now hope for more success in the FA Cup when they travel to Belper on Saturday.

Brierley and Withymoor will also be looking for FA Cup success when they host Market Drayton at the Grove on Sunday (3pm kick off).
