STOURBRIDGE put a poor run of results behind them as they produced a fine performance to see off Bedworth 3-0 at the War Memorial on Saturday.

The morale-boosting win saw the Glassboys climb out of the relegation zone in BGB Midlands Division One to the delight of manager Gary Hackett.

A brace from Mark Bellingham and a first goal of the season for Sam Rock secured the win and the boss was delighted to see "Rocky" open his account.

He said: "It was a good win which will hopefully now kick-start our season.

"It was also nice to see Sam get his name on the scoresheet for the first time this season.

"He has been working hard but just hasn't been able to get that elusive goal but hopefully now this boost his confidence and the goals will start flowing."

Hackett will now be looking for another big home performance this Saturday when they host high flying Romulus (12.45pm kick off) with him believing this will be their biggest test to date.

One player who will not be turning out for Stourbridge is veteran striker Keith Russell.

The frontman has moved to Pelsall Villa to get some much-needed match action.

Hackett will be keeping close tabs on Russell's progress before deciding whether to bring him back to the War Memorial later on in the season.

The manager is also sweating on the fitness of Andy Wells and Morgan Brookes ahead of the weekend's big clash.

The Glassboys youth team were also celebrating a big win after they progressed in the F A Youth Cup on Monday night with a 2 - 1 win over Worcester City in their 2nd Qualifying Round tie at Amblecote.

A Sam Beasley penalty and a late goal from Dan Jones helped the Glassboys youngsters to record a memorable victory. Stourbridge will now be away to Stone Dominoes.

l Kick off time for the Romulus fixture has been brought forward due to England's clash with Estonia which will be shown on the big screen in the club house after the game.
