STOURBRIDGE speedster Richard Sykes will lead the 90 strong field away for this weekends Rally of the Midlands.

The event comprises of nearly 100 miles of sealed surface stages around Hinckley and Nuneaton.

It will all get underway tomorrow (Friday) from the centre of Nuneaton at 6pm.

Sykes is hoping the short trip for the team will see the continuation of their recent success.

He said: "We will be hoping to carry on our recent run of good form on our local event and look for maximum points again.

"Last year on this event a freak electrical problem caused our retirement early on, after we had been leading overnight, so I won't be counting my chickens yet.

"This year we have changed to the Fiesta ST and are looking for a bit more reliability after our run of bad luck during 2007.

"Although we have had no testing in the new car our recent results speak volumes of how we have adapted and another win this weekend will put us in a very good position in the championship before we head out to the Isle of Man for the double header."

The rally finishes with a champagne spraying ceremony in Hinckley Town Centre on Saturday.
