A CASH boost means Dudley is one of just two UK councils providing foster care for children aged three to 16.
The Department of Children, Schools and Families stumped up £400,000 to the council’s Flipside team, who are now looking for new full-time and respite foster carers.
The latest programme, for youngsters aged seven to 11 will be added to existing projects for other age groups.
The scheme will encourage children with emotional and psychological difficulties to take part in recreational activities and have a greater involvement in school.
The preventative plan is designed to cut down instances of older children needing costly intensive support.
Cllr Liz Walker, Dudley cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Our dedicated team of professionals work closely with foster carers to ensure the best possible outcome for each child or young person who is in need of extra special care at certain times in their life.”
For more information call the Flipside team on 01384 816143.
