DUDLEY borough’s first citizen will be the centre of attention at a traditional service to bless his year of office.
Mayor Ray Burston is holding a Civic Sunday event at St Margaret’s Church, Hagley road, Hasbury tomorrow (Sunday July 6).
Member of the public are invited to attend the service, which starts at 3pm, after a small procession from neighbouring Hasbury CE School.
Civic dignitaries, ex-servicemen and other Black Country mayors will also be in attendance at the service which will be jointly conducted by Canon John Everest, the mayor’s chaplain, and parish priest, Father Rob Hall.
Cllr Burston said: “I would love to see the church packed with people who can become part of the latest chapter in the history of Dudley mayors.”
