NURSES from The Dudley Group of Hospitals Emergency Assessment Unit has helped raise cash for the Air Ambulance.

They picked up their bucket and sponges for a sponsored helicopter wash to raise money for their emergency colleagues.

The fund raising event, which took place on Wednesday July 9 at RAF Cosford, raised in the region of £1000 once the sponsorship money is collected.

Barbara Livesey, infection control champion for the emergency assessment unit for the Trust, said: “We had an amazing day despite the rain and we even saw the helicopter take off on a call. The air ambulance has previously helped one of our own ward clerks when she was injured so it is a charity close to our hearts.”

The air ambulance costs £25 a minute to fly and each rescue costs approximately £2000.
