PEOPLE spraying graffiti in Stourbridge have been warned to expect a visit from police who have pledged to wipe out spray can crime.
Several youths painting their ‘tags’ on walls around the town centre have already been arrested after an increase in the number of incidents.
Tags, which are signatures used by individual graffiti writers, have been appearing in subways and other public spaces during the last few weeks, prompting a clampdown by Stourbridge officers.
Pc Steve Higgitt, from the Stourbridge station, said: “Some people class this as art however there is a time and a place for art, and that is not on the subway.
“That is when it becomes graffiti.”
Officers say there will be more arrests in relation to criminal damage and anyone with information should contact Pc Higgitt on 0845 1135000.
