A TALENTED writer and singer from Wordsley has recently celebrated the publication of her short story and has gotten her vocal talents noticed by MTV and as far afield as Australia.
Miranda Dickinson’s chilling short story entitled ‘Remember’ is now available as a digital download from online site, Authortrek, which enables visitors to download stories off the internet for a small fee. One day it hopes to do for short stories, what iTunes did for music.
Miranda said: “I am absolutely over the moon that my story has been published. As a previously unpublished writer, this represents a massive achievement for me - and now the future is looking a lot brighter for my novel, which I hope to publish this year.”
Miranda has also received news that MTV are optioning her song ‘Man Behind the Smile’ to use in their next season of programming.
She’s also being considered for an International Award at the National MusicOz Awards, the biggest independent music awards in Australia.
The self-described ‘optimist’ has had her music played in the most random of places including cruise ships, a rock radio station in Luxembourg, Kenya and somehow, Australia.
Miranda said: “Its amazing realizing that my music has travelled further places than me. Its so exciting.”
Having grown up in Kingswinford, Miranda has had a series of jobs including being a copywriter for a major political party.
She was a semi-finalist in The 2007 UK Songwriting Competition, has worked with several internationally renowned producers, is recording her first album, has finished her first novel and still finds time to be an active blogger and online writer.
‘Remember’ can be downloaded from www.authortrek.com for 50p.
