BRITISH Waterways have quashed rumours over repair works to Stourbridge Canal costing £3.4 million.
The canal breached its banks from Middle Bridge to Wordsley Aqueduct following freak storms in September.
Engineers are still working at the site and a section of the canal from Middle Bridge to Stourton has now been re-watered.
A section of the canal from Wordsley to Stourbridge Junction has also be re-watered.
A British Waterways Spokesperson, Nicky Lister said: “The £3.4m figure is just a rumour at the moment and we still have senior engineers on work at the site.
“As soon as we have a figure we will announce it.”
The towpath between Newtown Bridge and Middle Bridge will remain closed until further notice.
British Waterways state they currently not in a stage to confirm the proposed completion date of the repair works or the costs involved.
