A KINGSWINFORD church is hosting two events during the Christmas holidays with a traditional festive feeling.
On Thursday December 11, St Mary’s Church, The Village will be hosting Flowers and Faith for Christmas to raise money for Birmingham Christmas Shelter, which provides accommodation for homeless people over the holiday period.
The event will feature floral displays from designers Peter Brownjohn and Laura Leong plus live music from Brain Turner.
The event starts at 7.30pm, tickets costing £5 are available from church administrator, Margaret Penn, by calling 01384 270806.
Peter Brownjohn said: “Having had the chance to work as a volunteer at Birmingham Christmas shelter last year, I was keen to try and generate a small part of the £16,000 a year it costs to run.”
The church is also hosting its popular Community Carols Night on Thursday December 18, featuring Christmas singing led by the choir plus a selection short readings.
The free event starts at 7.30pm and will conclude with drinks and mince pies for the congregation.
Margaret Penn, said: “Due to the massive response to our community carols evening last year I would encourage folks to come early to ensure they get a good seat.”
